For the first time in decades, the administration is acknowledging the value of recycling to Michigan’s economy and environment. In a recent address to the Joint Appropriations Committee, Governor Snyder recommended that the legislature appropriate $1 million in general funds to a new recycling initiative.The recommendation is being hailed as an important first step by state leadership in an effort that MRC estimates could contribute an additional $500 million to Michigan economy when we reach 50% recycling.
While the Governor has made the recommendation for recycling funding, the legislature will have the final say.
