Job Description

Working under the supervision of the Executive Director and Education Program Coordinator, the Training and Community Outreach Coordinator will be primarily responsible for implementation of the MRC’s Recycling Education and Outreach EPA grant. This position will also support organizational business; including but not limited to database management, work within MRC committees, communications, website updating, grant administration, event logistics, and other tasks as assigned.  

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and organize professional and community based training including preparing communications and developing marketing materials with the team.
  2. Conduct research to ensure best practices for commercial recycling education campaign.
  3. Conduct research and analytics to inform programming.
  4. Develop, coordinate, and maintain digital and physical records, documents, and write progress reports on grant activities for the U.S EPA
  5. Assist the Education Program Coordinator in direct outreach and support of EPA Justice40 communities to develop recycling education programming.
  6. Support monitoring and maintenance of organizational website(s) and digital communications.
  7. Maintain a calendar to coordinate work flow and meetings.
  8. Interact professionally with Board, members, contractors, staff, clients, vendors and visitors.
  9. Support development of the MRC, its mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to self-manage with good written and verbal communication  and problem‐solving skills.
  2. Create, modify, and manage documents through Google Workspace, Canva, and other web-based applications.
  3. Experience with database management and research/analytics.
  4. Experience with event planning and logistics preferred.
  5. Knowledge of and interest in recycling/composting industries.
  6. Must be willing to travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Possession of a bachelor's degree in environmental studies, resource management, environmental education, or a related field of study
  2. Ability to work well independently or as part of a team.
  3. Work is remote with preference for location in Lansing,MI.

Wage Range:

Full-time position, starting pay is $22.50 per hour. Increases considered annually.
